Staying sane during meetings

Staying sane during meetings

I’ve been clear about my horror of meetings.  And yet, they remain an occupational hazard for the lab manager.  Committee meetings, interdepartmental meetings, meetings with the team… they multiply like locusts.

And yet we cannot do without them.  Here are a few tips on how to stay sane during them:

  • Have a list of things you want out of the meeting.  Questions that you want answere etc.
  • Take detailed notes on everything that is said, just to keep your attention there
  • Take the opportunity to study the other participants.  Reminding yourself of who is who in a large organization can pay dividends.
